verrrrryy interestttting. I've always thought of the SBA as a bunch of people with great ideas and lots of advice but still stuck in the model of 'Oh, let's have a weekly breakfast meeting at the iHop and share ideas!" This could be reallllly big.

"Facts" aren't always what they seem. A story:

Ship sails into its home port and when its secured and the re-provisioning is under way, all but a few of the crew run off for shore time. Including the First Mate.

It's home port so the First Mate has himself more than a few pints of grog and returns back to his ship in the early hours of the next morning.

Later that day, when on shore watch, the Mate sees the entry made by the Captain in the previous nights ship log "First Mate - drunk tonight." He speaks with the captain - asking him to reconsider the entry because logs are kept forever and are often used in Promotional Review.

Captain says "facts is facts. I saw what I saw, I wrote what I wrote and people will know it's a fact. That simple!"

Next morning that Captain was reviewing the shore watch log from the night before. There, in the neat handwriting of the First Mate was the entry:

"Captain was sober tonight."

Hi Tom - thank you for your kind words. :-)

As a small business owner who actually uses social media, I thought it was time to dispel some myths surrounding the power of web 2.0.

Most importantly, however, I truly want to help other business owners who might be struggling by laying out exactly how I use the tools that are available for low cost marketing.

Steve - from this Boomer, I have nothing but admiration for the generation of my daughter. Earlier today, I saw an 8-yr-old drop out of the graphic-rich "Spore" game screen into a text-box for a scripting language -- where he conjured up a sea monster to appear on the next planet we visited. Um. Did I mention he was 8 !!! This kind of absolute comfort with digital fiddling will probably change the world in ways my generation talked about -- but never achieved.

This might be a new-ish sounding name, but a quick Google search suggests 'strategic recasting' is an idea (and -- term) that's been around at LEAST since the late 90s.
